KTSP – ISIS Claims Responsibility for St. Cloud Mall Attack

An Islamic State-run news agency claims the man who stabbed and wounded eight people at a mall in Minnesota before being shot dead by an off-duty police officer was a “soldier of the Islamic State.”

The IS-run Rasd news agency reported the claim on Sunday, saying the attacker had heeded calls from the extremist group for attacks in countries that are part of a U.S.-led anti-IS coalition.  Read more…

 

NBC29 – Charlottesville FD Investigating Underground Transformer Explosion

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) –

The Charlottesville Fire Department was investigating a reported underground explosion of a transformer owned by Dominion on the Downtown Mall.

The fire chief says there was no fire or smoke, and no injuries from the reported explosion near the Downtown Mall between 3rd Street and Water Street. Read more…

 

Explosion in New Jersey Along Course of 5k Race Under Investigation

ABC – An explosive device detonated in the New Jersey beach town of Seaside Park Saturday along the route of a 5k charity race befitting U.S. Marines and sailors that drew thousands of runners, officials said.

The start of the run had been delayed due to the vast amount of participants, so there were not many people in the area when the explosion occurred. The race was cancelled after the blast. No suspects have been arrested in connection with the explosion, according to New Jersey Attorney General Christopher Porrino. Read more…
